DIY Diaper Cupcakes

I made these adorable little Diaper Cupcakes for Kimberly's babyshower!
I wanted an alternative to a diaper cake.

These were super easy to make.
Each cupcake is made of a Newborn diaper, a babywash cloth, a pair of socks and some cute coordinating ribbon.

The directions are as follows:
  • fold each diaper in half, lengthwise
  • fold each pair of socks in half
  • place the pair of socks in the middle of the folded diaper.
  • roll diaper up like a jelly roll.
  • fold your wash cloth in half, lengthwise
  • wrap the wash cloth around the diaper/sock roll
  • secure the diaper/sock/wash cloth roll with a rubber band
  • Cut your coordinating ribbon to the length to wrap around the diaper cupcake and secure with glue (or a safety pin, as I did).

Celebrating Baby Ava

Yesterday I hosted a babyshower for my friend, Kimberly. Kimberly and her husband, Kirk, are expecting their 3rd...that's right, 3rd....baby girl in early to mid June. You definately know who's going to be the odd man out in that house! LOL! Kimberly and I have been best friends since 7th grade, so I was delighted to do this for her.
This was the spread for the shower! I tried to keep everything with a pink, blue, and white color scheme for our "SUGAR & SPICE" theme! We had fruit kabobs (bananas, grapes & strawberries), marshmallow pops, ham & cheese and turkey & cheese kabobs, cotton candy muffins, doughnuts, vanilla cupcakes with strawberry frosting, and chocolate cupcakes with blue & pink buttercream frosting!

While everyone was eating, we let Kirk open his gift. I put together a "Daddy Doody Kit" for Kirk; just in case! LOL! I think he thought I was a little crazy, but it was all in good fun! :)

Kirk's "Daddy Doody Kit" included:
-Advil
-Hand Sanitizer
-Baby Wash
-Baby Bottle
-Diapers
-Paci's
-Goggles
-Face Masks
-Tongs
-Baby Washcloths
-Baby Socks
-Baby Wipes
-Clothes Pin
-Baby Spoons
-Baby Food

Next, it was time to open the gifts for baby Ava! Big Sister, Makenzie was such a super helper. She helped her mommy with EVERY gift and she was ready for her picture to be taken with the gifts.

How gorgeous is this blanket?! Kimberly's grandmother handstitched this for baby Ava!

The mommy-to-be opening her gifts!

The happy family!! I think Makenzie was eXtRa happy! :)

We decided to snap a few family photos and a photo of the shower guests with our guest of honor!

And of course, my momma had to get one of me and Kim! We've been friends for so long! She was there when Jeremy was born, she called from Vegas the day Taylor was born; I'm happy to do anything I can for her and her babies!!

Congratulations Kimberly & Kirk!!!

Indian Tacos with homemade Frybread

Last week, Ray and I were talking about the indian tacos his step-mom used to make.
That led us to the idea of ME making them.
I talked with my SMIL and scoured the internet to find out to make the frybread.
I used the following recipe for the bread. And then we just topped them with our standard taco meat and toppings.
They turned out UUHHHH-MAAAAZZZINNGG!

Indian Fry Bread
Ingredients
2c. flour
4tsp. baking powder
1tbsp. sugar
1/2tsp. salt
1c.milk ( LUKE WARM ONLY)

Mix all dry ingredients together. Then slowly add milk to form a soft dough.
Cut in pieces about 2x4in. Fry in hot oil until golden brown and then turn over and brown the 2nd side. These cook very fast, so be sure not to burn them!
Enjoy!!

Strawberry Picking

All this past week, the weather man was forecasting yesterday to be GORGEOUS!!
Boy did he lie! LOL! :)
I had planned all week to take the kids to the local strawberry farm on Saturday.
Man was it cold.
It was 60 degrees and windy! The kids literally had to wear jeans, long sleeve shirts, and coats! Coats in April...late April to be exact! How crazy is that!?!
But, neither of them let the cold stop them! They had a field day picking berries.

Keep a check on here for some yummy strawberry recipes!!
